KUKU drumming, Apples and Bananas

Revitalise (Part 2)

KUKU- Drumming with Apples and Bananas

I sent some requests to drumming friends for some rhythms to play. I grabbed half an hour in the sunshine while my partner looked after our 10 month old baby. We are joined at the hip, me and my daughter, it always feels weird to be without her... I don't recognise myself. I'm sure I will get used to it...

KUKU one of my friends reminded me of a song called KUKU - a fab West African drumming song. Here is a version on KUKU,
these guys in the video are amazing. West African drumming is malleable, sounds different each time but with recognisable rhythms. (one of the reasons I love it so much)

I had an amazing drumming teacher who I really admire. she taught me how to remember rhythms using words... the two main djembe rhythms for KUKU are 'Eat Bananas' and 'Munch Munch Crunchy Apples'.
I have attached a video of the 'Eat Bananas' video broken down...
