Emergency Vehicles

Rob Turner

Part One
I expect all artists in the region found that the rug was pulled from underneath them, with all work being postponed, rescheduled or failing to reach the next step. All my contracts and commissions evaporated over 2-3 days: Apart from one! 'Emergency Vehicles'.

This was one element of the larger Creative Civic Change programme for Newington, which has been fortunate to survive. By luck and serendipity a series of mosaics made by the residents of Newington in Ramsgate which were part of a public seating 'make over' right outside the community centre on Princess Margret Avenue will be constructed ready for installation.

Community made mosaics on the theme of Emergency Vehicles are now in my workshop for me to complete. Residents having made the main body of the work, it is now my task to bring it all together so it can be installed at some point.

These are some of my initial preparatory drawings

Sharing my good news and commending Starling Support CIC my commissioner for enabling these to be completed and paid for, by working remotely.
